A strain of Bacillus pumilus isolated from black tiger shrimp had high
salt tolerance and capabilities to inhibit the growth of marine pathogens, including Vibrio alginolyticus,
when cultured together.
Black
tiger shrimp, can host Bacillus
pumilus in the gut, where it
inhibits infections by Vibrio
harveyi, V. alginolyticus,
and V. parahaemolyticus,
all of which are known to be harmful bacterial pathogens of shrimp.
